Konami to host Portable Ops Tournament

The first event goes to Japan!

Konami has announced their first Japanese Portable Ops tournament.

Players must sign up for the event on the official webpage, and travel to a meeting location (in Japan) where the event will take place. Players will meet at a certain time, with a special guest from Kojima Productions in attendance. The event will take place on the 17th and 18th of this month. The tournament finals will take place on the 25th.

The tournament will be a team event, with one team limited to three players. Battles will take place on the Town stage and the Silo Entrance stage. Players who win will be awarded with a special victory emblem for their nationwide appearance (similar to the Kojima Productions logo in MGO, we're guessing) and a Victory Sheild (no idea what this is). Everyone in attendance will receive a special code (featured in the Portable Ops soundtrack) which they can use on the Japanese Portable Ops website to receive a special bonus character. This character will be a generic soldier with a high set of stats.
